Here is a link to Intermission, by Earl Mueller, which is the piece I chose.

This is an image from the Great Depression era. Intermission was probably heavily influenced by the Great depression, since it was produced a few years after the Great Depression ended. This image features two men who are looking for jobs. The piece I chose seems to have a focus on making fun of the wealthy, so ideas for that could have stemmed from times like the one featured in this image.

This piece, Jon, is another piece by Earl Mueller. I believe an important theme for Jon is isolaion. It is similar to the piece I picked because it's also listed under the modern category, and uses similar coloring. It also includes the isolation theme, which is present in Intermisison.

This is another piece by Earl Mueller. It's reminiscent of the Great Depression as well. Earl Mueller seems to be making a statement about the financial differences at the time. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the house in the picture, but the way it's portrayed makes it seem run-down. There's also a sense of unrest.

This is an image of a crowded street corner during the Great Depression. It's crowded in this scene, which relates to Intermission. This image could also be an example of conditions during the Great Depression that influenced Intermission. In this picture, it seems like individuals in the crowd are interacting with each other in little "groups", like how it is in Intermission.

This is an example of a newspaper headline of the infamous stock market crash. On the newspaper, you can see "attempt made to italy's crown prince". It shows the distance between the wealthy and the poor, which seems like a big theme in Intermission. This also takes place during the Great Depression.
